You Should Be Listening: Monsta X’s ‘Follow: Find You’

The start of 2019 musically was an interesting one for me. While I had been out of the kpop scene for years now after girl group f(x) went on hiatus (and have since sadly parted ways) back in 2014. So it was to my surprise when I stumbled across the track Shoot Out by Monsta X in my recommended feed.

Blown away by the hard edm beat fused with the incredibly smooth chorus, I was immediately smitten with the wacky group of seven. A whole bunch of variety shows, stellar US releases, and an incredibly fun concert later, here I am right back in the thick of it.

The 28th of October saw the release of their 7th mini album Follow: Find You, and as a new Monsta X fan experiencing their first full comeback I was incredibly hyped for what was to come from a group that is arguably at the top of their game. So lets dive into Follow: Find You and see if Monsta X can live up to the hype!

Also my bias is Wonho, thank you for asking lol.

Voltron Legendary Disappointment: The fall of VLD and the destruction of Lance

Voltron: Legendary Defender wrapped up it’s eighth and final season this past week (or at least recently? I have an issue with timing when it comes to these posts lol), and after 2 years of ups and downs the series finally came to a disappointing conclusion all around. Considering how monumental of a train wreck the show ended up becoming, riddled with fan backlash about things happening both on and off the screen, I believe it’s pretty important to look back on the show as a whole, and dissect just what exactly took a show with so much heart and essentially destroyed it.

Lets Talk About: Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth

I’ve always been quite an avid fan of the visual novel genre of otome games. From the incredibly well put together Hakuoki and Amnesia, to the litany of Voltage mobile games I still have downloaded on my phone, I’d like to believe I’m quite the expert when it comes to these types of games. As a guilty pleasure of mine, I promise you that getting lost in a world as you romance your way through a number of cliche boys is just as silly and fun as it sounds!

For the past month whenever I’ve had time away from the hectic-ness of everyday life I’ve sat down to work my way through Idea Factory’s release Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth.

Let’s Talk About: Danganronpa V3

After 10 months Danganronpa v3 was finally released in the west on October 6th 2017, and many, many months later I’ve finally had enough time to sit down and power through the game to completion an complete this review. A fun take on the classic Danganronpa visual novel series, lets unpack everything that was DRv3, and most importantly, focus on what the heck that ending was.

An Introduction

As the official first post at the turnabout i figured it would serve as an easy way to get some of the basics out of the way~

So hi and welcome! I’m JJ and I’m a massive dweeb who loves all things nerdy :^)

tumblr_mx5odkV4ku1qzk2upo1_500

My life in the realm of pop culture basically started the day I was born – my mother is a huuuge trekkie and scifi nerd, there was no real hope for me. Growing up I remember watching old stargate episodes with her and playing games together on our 64. Pop Culture has always been ingrained in my life and as I’ve gotten older my tastes have continued to be in all things fun and nerdy.

So lets look at the big 3 topics I’m hoping to cover: video games, anime/manga, aaaand…the rest?
